Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a very special day for me! I got to spend it with my family. I really miss my boys, Mike and Nick. When they lived at home, I was always getting the attention I deserve. Now I only see them occasionally. They scoop me up in their arms and I get so excited my whole body wags!

We actually had dinner at my Auntie Ruth’s. There were sooo many people there. I had fun with my human cousins and Grandma. I wanted to chase Teddy, their big cat, but he was chicken and hid under the bed the whole day. I only was offered 2 teeny, weeny pieces of turkey. All of that food and that’s it! However, I was so excited about being with everyone, I kinda threw it up anyway. But I was okay after that and continued to hang out with my kin. I sure was tired when we got home. I jumped right into my princess bed and snoozed til morning. Grandma stayed until Sunday, then me and Mom took her back home to Mankato. It’s fun to ride in the car with my mom, singing to the radio. I am really a lucky girl!!

Auntie Suzanne

I love Auntie Suzanne! She found a warm, comfy, purple blankie that I lay on at the front desk. I greet people as they come into the clinic. It’s exhausting! But Auntie Suzanne shares  little bits of her peanut butter sandwich with me about mid-morning. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth  ….awkward!....  but mmmm, it gets me through til lunchtime. Then I cast my big, brown eyes up to whoever has the best smelling lunch, and “Wham!”, melts their very soul. My friends are only allowed to give me tiny pieces, so I don’t lose my girlie shape. Then I sneak onto Auntie Dr. Cathy or Auntie Dr. Denise’s lap for a snooze until it’s time to get back to work. “Yawn!” Well someone has to welcome clients with a wag of the tail and a friendly lick!

First Snowfall of 2011!

We had our first snowfall this weekend.....I'm not so sure how I feel about that.  I think I'd rather have Mom take me to the spa.

My Story

Minnie was found by a good Samaritan in a Walmart parking lot, in a soft sided pet carrier, in August when it was in the 90’s. The Chihuahua pup was only 2 ½ lbs., and was estimated at 6 weeks of age. The woman waited for 2 hours for someone to claim her.The woman was referred to Blackberry. We told her we were certain that we would be able to find a home for a little puppy. Jeannine took her home to “foster” her over the weekend and allow time for someone to claim her. Well….. Jeannine realized she can’t be a foster person because she and her family immediately fell for Minnie, and now she comes to work with Jeannine and sits on the front desk greeting clients. She is extremely mellow and EVERYONE loves her. There have been many clients try to sneak her in their coats and take her, (in a fun way, not really), and she is very cathartic for clients who have had to say goodbye to their beloved pets here. They pick her up and cuddle her and she licks their face in commiseration.

Veteran's Day

Wow, what a day! Mom got me up at the crack of dawn to take me potty. Seriously, I was really warm and comfy under the blankets with Dad, snoozing. But “No”, Mom had to go to work and my bro, Loki, and I had to go out into the freezing, dark, windy outer sanctum to eliminate. Geesh, Dad could have taken me out when he got up about 11:00 or 12:00. Veterans Day and all. Oh…. I want to thank all of the troops from years back to the present for all they have given to protect my Mom & Dad’s freedoms. I know I wouldn’t have all that I have without their support and sacrifice. I would salute you if I could get my paw up to my forehead. My leg doesn’t bend that way. Anyway, I ate my breakfast like a good girl and am just going to hang out with Dad and the idiot stick. I thought his name was Loki, but that’s not what Dad calls him. I don’t get it!?
