Well, I am slowly getting accustomed to my new brother, Sammie. He is growing and I am staying the same size, so I have to get along with him or I will be squished! He does know how much “romping” I will tolerate though! At least I feel comfortable roaming my house again without fear of being trampled. Sammie is becoming more able to be controlled by my mom. He knows how to sit and lie down. He sleeps in the bedroom now and is much quieter. I, still, am the only one that gets to sleep “in” the bed. All others must sleep along side the bed. I love the heat, but everyone else in the house must have the air conditioner on and fans blowing every which way. I don’t understand it, but I must respect that I am not the only one living there. It is still a blessing to come to work, as I have my friends here and I can get a reprieve from the ever active puppy at home. Please stay safe and keep your pets cool and hydrated this summer.

As ever,
Minnie

(
Sammie , the newbie, is on my right)

Oh my, has life changed in our household! On April 14th, I acquired a new “brother”. His name is Sammie, but I call him “The -oh -so –Annoying- One”. He is a Lab/Golden RetrieverX. He’s light gold, and full of mischief! I tell you, I cannot make a move without him romping all around me. He even gets so playful that he accidentally clobbers me with his huge paws. He is now 10 weeks old and I am trying my best to tolerate him and teach him manners! It is a trial to be sure. My mom and dad are working hard to potty train Sammie and teach him basic commands. All he has to do is follow me and Loki outside and he will pick up the potty part. I don’t sit and lay down, but Loki does on command. He can set the example there. My job is to stand up on my hind feet, turn, and look adorable. Sammie will never accomplish that feat. He is cute, but he must learn the rules of the house and the first one is “Leave me and my food dish alone!” I gave him a bunch of my toys to play with. Loki gave him all of his! Sometimes Sammie and Loki play with the same toy and have a tug-o-war. It’s kind of a hoot to watch, but if things get a bit out of hand, I start barking at them and the play stops. Yes, I make it perfectly clear who runs the show! Sammie WILL learn sooner or later.

Well, I do get a reprieve when I go to work with Mom. Then it’s all good!  I am back on top! Talk to you all again soon! Peace!

Happy Spring from the Queen Bee!

Queen Minnie
Here’s my new outfit. So far it’s been a hit with the clients.  We have been busy at work. It is full on Heartworm season. Everyone is coming in for their Spring Tune-ups. The ticks are out and the mosquitoes are not far behind! I am already due formy next Frontline and Tri Heart treatment. Usually I don’t start getting treated until May 1st. It’s just been so mild, Mom started early. I’m glad ‘cause I hate those creepy ticks and I don’t want worms living in my heart and lungs. Yuck!!!
The lilacs are blooming and the rhubarb is already coming up. It’s great to get outside and run out in the back. We live on the edge of a park and there’s a pond in back with ducks and geese. They should be having their babies soon. My big brother Loki has already been IN the pond and covered in mud! I, however, stay on the shore to keep my fur clean and my paws pretty. I don’t much care for water sports! We all have to be careful of standing or stagnant water, ‘cause it can carry disease like Giardia or Leptospirosis. I don’t know what they are, but Mom says they can make me real sick.  Happy Spring!        Minnie

March 13, 2012

Wow! Have the days been nice or what?! I don’t have to wear my winter booties and this past weekend, I didn’t even wear a coat! I went for walks and ran around like crazy in the back yard. It felt so good to be able to hang out outdoors with my mom & dad. Even my big brother, Loki, got to go for a long walk.
I got a new spring outfit to wear at the front desk of Blackberry. It’s  got bling on it and says, “Queen Bee”. It’s awesome and not too froo froo, if you know what I mean. I’ll see if Mom will take a picture of me in it, and I’ll share it with you on my next blog!
I’m going to wear it to work tomorrow and “wow” the girls. They all will want one just like it, I’m sure. Well, back to my princess bed to catch a few “ZZZZZZ” before I eat supper!
Oh, before I go, it’s time for me to get poked for my Heartworm/Tick  test. I guess I’ll have to be brave, cause it’s really important. Maybe if I get it done tomorrow at work, Suzanne will give me treats!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

I have been busy being a therapy dog. My dad had his knee replaced last week. I got to go visit him every day. It helped him feel better and recover faster. The nurses stopped in frequently to give me hugs and cuddles. I even visited some of the other patients and their families at the hospital. I was very quiet and calm so I wouldn’t disturb any patients. The staff was sooooo nice to me. My mom had to show my vaccination records to the security staff, so I was cleared to go up to the orthopedic floor. I like visiting hospital patients. They really appreciate me. I think I make them stop thinking about their hurts for just a little bit. They smile at me and think I am soft to the touch.

My dad is home now and feeling better. I would like to visit hospitals and nursing homes more often to help people.

Hello Friends!

Well, I did the ultimate Blackberry Vet Ambassador duty last week and had my teeth cleaned and polished at the Dental Care “Munch & Learn”. I didn’t care for the pokes with the needles, but was sleeping while I got my teeth all cleaned up. The people who came to learn and watch enjoyed themselves, or so say the staff members that were there. I know I woke up and my teeth felt soooo good. I ate a little soft food when I got home and then took a nap……yep, in my princess bed. I’m all recovered now and everyone says I was a good girl. I heard that the “Munch & Learn” was a success and that Debbie, Suzanne, Tori, and Dr. Denise all did a great job of educating about the importance of dental care for pets. I’m glad I could help!

February is Pet Dental Month and Blackberry Vet is offering a great deal on dog and cat dental cleanings. You should check on Facebook and our web site to take advantage of the offer!

PEACE!!

Minnie’s Memo:

Happy New Year to all of my friends. I have been so busy! Let me tell you. Christmas was hectic, and I didn’t get my naps in as I should have. I traveled all over the cities for various Christmas celebrations with family members. I played with little kids and other puppies. The grownups all wanted to keep me. My mom had to be very watchful. I enjoyed the children the most. They were very careful when petting me and even with all the toys and presents they received, they didn’t forget to come over and give me lots of attention. I didn’t get any human treats, which was good, cause then I didn’t get sick! The lighted reindeer in my house became very easy to deal with. I was never chased or hassled by him. That was a relief. Now he is all boxed up and put away for another year.

Tuesday, January 17th is a big day for me. I am getting my teeth professionally cleaned by my friend Debbie here at Blackberry Vet Center. I guess I will be the main event at the “Munch & Learn” that evening. My mom will be discussing dental care and teeth cleaning. Then visitors can watch me get my teeth cleaned. I will be asleep so I won’t know it, but I hope I don’t do anything silly in front of the people watching. The center will be drawing a name for a free teeth cleaning for their pet. They are also giving the people that show up a coupon for $35.00 off the regular price of a teeth cleaning if they schedule an appointment for their pet that evening. What a good deal! I know will feel so much better having cleaned and polished teeth! I hope to see you there!!
